Here is some exciting news for all AliExpress shoppers. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s logistics arm Cainiao Network Technology Co. Ltd. said it would offer a five-day global delivery service that’s 30% faster on average compared to the industry standard by the end of the year (2023).
Cainiao Group pledged on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, to deliver cross-border parcels within five working days, which it said would be 30% faster than the industry standard.
The logistics arm of Alibaba Group is partnering with AliExpress, a marketplace where consumers buy directly from Chinese manufacturers, to launch the service.
Cainiao also unveiled a self-operated premium express service in China under Cainiao Express.
According to Wan Lin, Cainiao CEO, “The next decade will unveil new development opportunities for smart logistics, and Cainiao will dedicate our efforts to building a leading global smart logistics network. This includes establishing three long-chain logistics networks encompassing domestic logistics, cross-border logistics, and overseas logistics, as well as creating three short-chain businesses in last-mile post stations, logistics infrastructure, and logistics technology. We aim to provide quality and competitive logistics services to our consumers, merchants, platforms, and logistics partners.”
ALIEXPRESS FAST GLOBAL DELIVERY SERVICE
According to AliZila, Cainiao and AliExpress will, step-by-step, deliver cross-border parcels within five working days by streamlining its first-mile pickup, line haul, overseas distribution, and last-mile delivery.
To deepen its logistics capabilities outside of China, Cainiao will focus on Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia with a target of establishing one to two local warehousing and distribution centers a year.
Cainiao acquired a small local express company in September last year. It now delivers to 60% of the country and is still expanding.
Cainiao also announced the launch of a self-operated premium express service – Cainiao Express – which features key offerings such as half-day delivery, doorstep delivery, and night-time pickup to cater to market demands.
The company will also prioritize the development of three-tiered supply chain products and services, namely Half-Day Delivery for excellent warehousing, Next-Day Delivery for smart warehousing, and an economy shipping option.
